Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI) - Spain
The Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI) is a research institute sponsored by the Generalitat de Catalunya and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Our research activities focus on international economics and macroeconomics, understood in a broad sense (i.e. encompassing economic growth, business cycles, monetary economics, macroeconometrics, international trade and finance, economic geography, etc.). Given our origin, location and spirit, we seek to emphasize the European dimensions of those fields of study.
Main tasks in the project: CREI will actively collaborate in the building and managing of a macro and micro economic database. In particular its staff will be involved in the assessment of specific data needs in order to develop the two ABM models and the game as well as in the collection of already existing data sets. Moreover, CREI will help developing the agent based model of the macro economy as a complex adaptive system in which aggregate regularities emerge from the interaction of a multitude of heterogeneous agents.
Key CREI personnel working on this project
Vasco M. CARVALHO, Junior Researcher
PhD in Economics (Chicago, 2008). Adjunct Professor at UniversitatPompeuFabra and Affiliated Professor with the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. His research in Macroeconomics has focused on the sectoral origins of business cycle phenomena and, in particular, how the network structure of input supply linkages across sectors can facilitate the propagation of shocks and generate strong cyclical comovement. In Applied Econometrics, he has focused on the development of time series methods that assess long run processes of cross-country and regional convergence as well as the emergence of common cycles across countries or sectors. He has published his research in international journals such as the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, the Journal of Applied Econometrics and the International Journal of Forecasting.
